Hey – Mel here.
As far as Collar Free goes, we are very excited to have our first round of shirts for sale! Support the artists and pick up one to sport around town. I have one of each and they are so soft, I don’t want to take it off! (To my roommates dismay… I guess I WILL have to wash them eventually
As far as my own story… I just finished The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand for the first time and I feel refreshed, relieved and lost all at the same time. I’ve spent so many nights staying up reading, so when it’s done I feel like “Now What?!” and search for my next literary victim. The book was long and dense, but also intriguing. I’m interested in the exploration of society and identity and the personal discipline that Dominique has is almost sickening. I find that I am a truly passionate person and driven solely by my emotions at times which is why I see Roark as detached and having an unattainable calmness. (This is also the cause of the long debates in the living room as my Phsychologist roomate discusses issues based on statistics, while I argue for personal pleasure and passion. I love breaking stereotypes and representing the opposing side of the statistic.
I’m working on my next painting and as I stare at the blank canvas, I imagine the colors and the images that will soon cover every inch of it. A blank canvas is the hottest thing in the world.
Some painters that inspire me:
Alice Neel
Tara McPherson
Johnathan Viner

The design is terrific.
I love those shirts.

For a long time, I’ve been meaning to reread Atlas Shrugged but I heard there’s a movie in the works, so I’ll probably do the lazy thing and use it to refresh my memory.
